A notary acts as a representative for the employer to verify the identity of the potential employee. A notary stamp is not required for this act and a notary CAN NOT notarize their own signature. We will require specific IDs from the lists provided to you by your employer or can be found here.

 Per the Secretary of State Regulations, each person requesting a notarization must be positively identified through either personal knowledge or satisfactory evidence. An individual must provide a valid form of photo identification issued by a federal, state, federal, or state-recognized tribal government bearing the photographic image of the individual's face and either the signature or a physical description of the individual.  

Valid forms of ID include: 

• State ID

• Drivers License

• Federal or State issued ID

• Older Military ID (includes signature or physical description)

• Passports

• Foreign passport if duly stamped by the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration)

• Driver’s license or a non-driver’s ID issued by another US territory or state

• Valid driver’s license officially issued in Canada or Mexico 

• An inmate ID card issued after or on 1/1/1991 by the Federal Bureau of Prisons or North Carolina Department of Corrections (but to identify prisoners only).

Please read through all the documents you want notarized so you are prepared when you arrive at our office ready to sign. Call ahead of time if you require witnesses. Please DO NOT sign the document, all notarized documents must be signed in the presence of a notary. 

Fees: 

• The fee for a general notarial act is $10.00 per principal signature, as mandated by the North Carolina Secretary of State.
